Tirupur is a major textile and knit wear hub contributing to 90% of total cotton knit wear exports from India. Government ITI Tirupur which comes under the Department of Employment and Training, State Government of Tamil Nadu was established in the year 1985 as women ITI up to 2000 in rental building.

In 22.03.2000 Government built a new building in Tiruppur on Dharapuram Road, Opposite to Government hospital. We start to give training for one more trade.

Vocational Education in India is imparted mainly through Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Which aims to develop skilled manpower through diversified course thereby meeting the requirements of mainly the unorganised sector and to instil self-employment skills in people through a large number of self-employee-oriented courses.

Government ITI Tirupur satisfies the above by training ITI graduates in 9 different trades.
